Italy so far ...

We have been in Italy for a week but it does not feel like it. Last week was spent getting better acquintaited with our surroundings, catching up on sleep, exploring Siena, eating our fare share of gelato.
We love our little apartment. It is in a great location at the bottom of a hill. We get a lot of exercise. We do not have air conditioning but it seems like very few in Italy believe in air conditioning. It is funny adjusting to life in a new country. We love sienna it is such a beautiful city with so many hills. Everyday I walk around and find something new that is beautiful such as a shop, old building, the beautiful architecture, or the marble floors. It is so exciting.
Last weekend we went to Florence. I loved Florence but in a different way then the way I love Siena. I loved the museums, the David, and the renaissance architecture everywhere. Florence was definitely different than Siena. Instead of the hills it was flat, instead of the occasional tourist, it was a little more like Disneyland. I loved it though.
I was in amazement as we walked around the uffizi, it was amazing how much artwork could be in one building. They were all so wonderful. The birth of Venus and Springtime were amazing. I
think my favorite part about the uffizi was the ceilings. They were tall but painted so beautifully. At times I felt that the ceilings of the uffizi competed with the wonderful artwork of the renaissance.
Academia had the David. The David was even more beautiful in person. It. Was so much larger than I could have expected. My six foot six inches husband looked so small in comparison. The details were amazing on how Michaelangelo knew where to carve the muscles, he made David not to chiseled but not weak. The sling shot was so perfectly sculpted that he even remembered a crease in the bag. Things that I simply would have over looked.
We went to dinner at this adorable restaurant right by the Medici chapel. It was so yummy. I ate so much food. We had fried zucchini flowers, brushetta, ravioli, and spaghetti with claims and muscles. I was full and happy. It was a successful and fun trip.
The next day was Sunday and we got to go to church. The people there were so sweet. I needed translation from time to time but everyone was so understanding.

I am really enjoying my experiences here and so is Matt. He is so understanding when I get overwhelmed with not knowing italian. He helps me out with learning and being my translator. The Italian is coming along slowly but surely. It has only been a week but I am learning so much. I will update soon with pictures ... Much love. CIAO

So for the miss spellings this was done on my iPad while it was running out of battery.
